Avoid Losing Your Way With A Navigon 2100T Portable GPS

I was shocked when my father phoned our home to say that he did not know where he was. And then I got concerned right away and started to panic. I was scared he was going senile! My goodness he used to be a taxi drive, this was not happening. And I started to ask him a bunch of questions quickly and with concern. Ok, tell me what exactly are you near? Is there anyone around that you can see that might be able to help you, how about any restaurants or street signs? Did you cut off the car? Oh my!

I felt a lot better when he told me that all the new streets that had recently been put in on that side of town had made him lose track of where his turn was. He made me admit that I thought he was losing his mind to old age. I was relieved to find out he was still in his right mind.

At the next opportunity, I went to several retail location to look for a GPS my dad could use. Gets out of the car and looks up our phone numbers in his hand written address book to use his 'programmed by me' cell phone,it had to be easy because let's face it, he pulls over. If it weren't for me he'd still be carrying around that prehistoric 20 lb bag phone,I'm sure.

Well after two thousand questions to over a dozen clerks, and store attendants, I finally found the Navigon 2100T portable GPS. I thought the portable feature was really great in the sense that he could put it in either the car or the truck. It's also not big and bulky like the Cobra GPSM 2500, or too small like the Magellan Roadmate. I mean come on, he does wear bifocals!

Navigon 2100T portable GPS also has excellent 3D graphics! I wasn't able to find this on any of the models I looked at. The roads look enough like they do in real life that my father finds it much easier to navigate.

It also comes with "test to speech" technology. Wow what a great little feature. I've heard GPS systems in the past that tell you turn left 15 miles down the road. This neat little machine tells you to turn left at "Carlisle Street." My dad knows streets. Guesstimating 15 miles is a stretch. He's too proud to touch the little button that measures your distance on the car. By the time you've turned down the wrong road, you're five minutes into it before you realize it was the next left. But not with the Navigon 2100T portable GPS system.

The replaceable SD card is another nice feature and you can upgrade to get traffic control. That way if you're stuck in a jam, it can give you alternate routes to your destination.

And it was quite affordable, too. I finally got two on Amazon for a little over $300.00 Of course, I wanted one also. In fewer than 30 days my father knew the Navigon 2100T portable GPS better than me and was showing me things I didn't know.
