Finding a Good Camping Chair
If you are camping in a tent or a trailer, an air chair is a great thing to have with you. Air chairs, also called hammock chairs, can be suspended from a sturdy tree branch. You can also buy a stand for these chairs, but they are bulky and difficult to travel with. Since they only hang from one point, they are more versatile than regular hammocks.
There are a couple of things to look for when you're buying a camping chair. One important feature is the carrying case. Not only does this help with storage and travel, it's also important in making sure the chair doesn't get dinged or broken.
Another thing to look for in your camping chair is a footrest. These usually come as a separate item that snaps onto the legs and bottom of the chair, allowing for greater versatility. If you're going backpacking and don't want the extra weight, you can simply detach it, but if you're going car camping and will be able to drive right to your campsite, then it will definitely be a great thing too have. You'll also want to make sure that your chair has a cup holder. It may seem like a small thing, but you'll be glad you have it when you're trying to juggle your cup and your plate at mealtimes.
The quality of the chair is also an important thing to be conscious of. You might be able to save a couple of bucks by buying a cheaply made chair, but you don't want to have to put up with it breaking with the slightest bit of rough use. Go ahead and spend a bit more to get a high quality chair. You'll be glad you did when, not only is it more comfortable, but it gives you years of enjoyment.
Having a camping chair is definitely a great decision to make when you're packing for your trip. If you're going to be hiking in to your campsite, then make sure to get a lightweight chair that fits in your pack well. If you're going car or RV camping, then just get the biggest, most comfortable chair you can find, and you'll be glad you did when you get to camp. -->
