The Dublin's Legendary Phoenix Park

Stress and strain, being the gifts we get from the living style in today's world, cannot help us in any way and it does not allow the other healthier gifts to stay close to us. People who long for more peaceful moments prefer certain special places in the world like the church, the seashore and the mountains of the locality. But mostly, people prefer an even more useful and calmer place, the parks in the region. Since we have many areas of relaxing facilities in the parks, it is quite easy to relive ourselves of the stress and strain that makes us suffer in our daily lives.

Ireland is a land of all facilities and the region is filled with numerous parks and zoological sanctuaries which invite people with the breeze through the trees and the calling of the birds. Such wonderful land of beauty is on the top of the list these days and the government of Ireland, after the signing of peace treaties with the Great Britain and amongst themselves, has taken special care for preserving their wildlife, culture and parks alike.

The largest public park in an enclosed space is the legendary Phoenix Park, which is found located at a distance of three kilometers from the Dublin City Center, in the north western region of the Irish soil. Covering almost seven hundred and seven hectares with large areas of grassland and tree - lined avenues, enclosed by a wall, measuring sixteen kilometers in circumference. We may find wild Fallow deer pack here at the park and they have been placed under the park's list of protected animals.

Going by the Irish vernacular name, "Pirc an Fhionn-Uisce" meaning clear water, it is a literally perfect park befitting this name with plenty of clean water. With seven hundred and fifty acres of land, the park is one of the oldest and preferred parks in Ireland. Children and aged people often find it hard to leave the park in the evenings when it is time to close the park; it shows such magnetism towards our hearts, making us long to spend more time there.

Housing a total of over seven hundred types of animals and birds from around the world, it is very ideal spot for zoologist and bird watchers to spend their time in a much meaningful and useless manner. Horticulturists will have a fine time in the park amidst thousands of flowers and shrubs, of which some are even samples of rare and extinct species in the world. Monuments like the Papal cross, Wellington monument, legendary column of the Phoenix, Deer-field residence and other similar ones decorate the park which also houses over three hundred species of rare plants making it the perfect botanical garden as well.
