Commercial Dog Food or Homemade Dog Food - So Confusing.

Is your dogs food "bad dog food". How can you tell, where do you go to find the information. Not always an easy question to answer if you don't have the correct information

The dog food industry are adament that only their commercial dog food provides a stable, balanced diet for our dogs. They state that if dog owners feed their dogs homemade dog food they are in danger of overdosing their dogs.

We are able, as parents, with the correct information to provide a stable, balanced diet for our children. So why not for our dogs?

As dog owners we are quite capable of preparing a quality, balanced diet for our dogs. You must remember that there is a definite difference between giving your dogs the leftovers from yesterdays meal or preparing well balanced food. If you do decide to make homemade dog food then you must use tried and tested recipes otherwise your dog would be better off eating a can of commercial dog food.

Supporters of homemade dog food argue that commercial dog food is bad dog food and contains preservatives, toxins and dead animals. All of which are responsible for causing numerous diseases in dogs such as cancer, kidney failure and allergies.

I believe there are always pros and cons for any argument and reach my decisions only after researching all opinions. I now only feed my dog homemade dog food but I only arrived at this decision following the death of my newfoundland and extensive research.

Give these points some consideration before reaching a decision.

Homemade dog food tends to be prepared in smaller quantities and therefore will be eaten fresh.

You will always know exactly what is in your dogs food and this can be even more important if your dog suffers from illness such as diabetes, or food allergies.

The best way to approach this dilemma is to be well informed. Read all the information you can from both camps and then you will be able to reach a decision which will keep you and your dog happy.
