Essential Puppy Supplies

New puppies are exciting! As you prepare for a new puppy in your home, you will want some supplies to make it easier for both of you. Here are some essential puppy supplies you should have.

Your puppy will need dishes for food and water. These should be unbreakable and shouldn't tip over easily. It's less messy if puppy can't grab them in his mouth to run around with them.

Puppy will need a bed, box or crate. A crate is great because it can serve as a place of confinement to keep puppy out of trouble as well as aid in housebreaking. Get a crate that will grow with your puppy.

Puppy will need a place to call her own. A crate, box or bed the puppy can snugly fit in will help her feel more comfortable. Remember however that she will grow fast, so having a crate that can expand to her adult size will save money in the long run. A crate also helps keep her out of trouble when you can't watch her every minute. A simple towel can work as bedding and is easy to wash when soiled.

As your puppy grows you will want an adjustable nylon dog collar. Start with a nylon dog collar adjusted to it's smallest, and let it out as the puppy grows. You could also get a designer nylon dog collar for special occasions.

Having a leash is an important safeguard for your puppy. While buying your nylon dog collar, you might as well pick out a matching leash. You may want a leash near every door.

Puppy food is another essential item for your list. Your new puppy will need to eat puppy food for her first year of life. This will help her grow into a healthy happy adult dog.

Your puppy will love to chew and will need to chew while teething. Keep some chewing toys on hand to trade pup in exchange for your shoes. Most importantly, have a sense of humor, lots of love and patience as you help your new puppy grow into a well behaved adult dog.
