200 Gallon Aquarium - Furnish It First

A 200 gallon once installed will need to be furnished. Furnishing a 200 gallon aquarium correctly will ensure that you have a wonderful attraction for people to view, but also help to create an environment inside the tank which the fish and marine life will enjoy as well.

How you furnish a 200 gallon aquarium will depend upon the kind of marine life, corals and fish, which are going to be kept in it. In this article we offer some advice on what you should do in order to create and build the perfect environment for marine life, in a 200 gallon aquarium.

Furnishing A 200 Gallon Aquarium - Steps To Take

Step 1 - When selecting what kind of gravel to place in the base of a 200 gallon aquarium, go for that which is of the best quality, especially if you intend to have any kinds of natural plants residing in it. It not only produces a good foundation on which natural plants in an aquarium can grow, but helps to keep your biological under gravel filtration system in place.

There are many different colors and sizes of gravel aquarium to select from, but for a 200 gallon aquarium, it is best to go for that which measures between 4 and 6 millimeters, and is made either of granite or quartzite. This size of gravel will allow water to flow easily and freely over the top of an under gravel filtration system, which is installed in such a tank.

Step 2 - Adding man made or live rocks to a 200 gallon aquarium is a good idea, as it offers shelter to the fish and other marine life within the tank, including those that are known as being territorial. You need to be aware that after placing such rocks into the tank, they cause an imbalance in its eco-system, so be prepared to deal with any problems if they arise.

It is crucial that before you actually place any rocks (live or otherwise) in a 200 gallon aquarium, that they are washed thoroughly. This helps to remove any contaminants that could in fact be detrimental to the health of marine life, such as corals and fish in the tank.

Step 3 - Introduction of Bogwood to a 200 gallon aquarium is crucial, as it not only creates another feature that people can enjoy looking at, but this is ideal for providing shelter to the aquatic life that is residing in it as well.

As with the rocks, you need to wash Bogwood thoroughly before you actually place it into a 200 gallon aquarium. Again, this will help to remove any contaminants or diseases which may be infecting the plant, and which can prove to be very harmful to the health of any forms of aquatic life in it. Using the poly-varnish process, is the best way of getting rid of any diseases or contaminants from Bogwood.

Introducing Plants To A 200 Gallon Aquarium

As well as Bogwood, you have a wide variety of other plants which are suitable for furnishing a 200 gallon aquarium, to create the perfect environment for your marine life and fish to live in. The first decision you have to make however, is whether to buy natural live plants, or go for plastic ones instead.

The main advantage that plastic plants have over natural ones, is that they need little or no maintenance, and yet you need to wash both well before they are placed into a 200 gallon aquarium. Whereas the main advantage that natural live plants have over plastic ones put into a 200 gallon aquarium, is that they are far better for the tank's eco-system. They help to keep the water much purer within the tank and they also provide a much healthier environment for the aquatic life that you have placed into it.
