Keep Your Puppy In Good Health With Dog Dental Care

Most dogs don't have wonderful smelling breath. Then again who could blame them, not surprisingly, your breath would smell too if you never brushed your teeth!

Bad dog breath is just 1 reason why having a good dog dental program for your pet is highly recommended, but a recent study shows that it could also be critical to your dogs well being.

Done at Purdue University by Dr. Larry Glickman the study included the records of over 100,000 dogs. This study included a group that had periodontal disease and an equal size group that did not. It was discovered that there is a statistical link between dogs with gum disease and dogs with heart disease.

This was particularly true in the case of heart valve inflammation (endocarditis). In fact, only 0.01 percent of dogs that didn't have gum disease got endocarditis whereas.15 percent of the dogs with stage 3 periodontal disease did get endocarditis.

So, you see it's vital to have a good dog dental plan so as to keep your dog happy and healthy.

So, how do you provide your dog with superb dental care?

Needless to say, the first step is making certain your dog has clean teeth. You want to be sure to brush your dogs teeth each night with dog toothpaste and a dog toothbrush. It's recommended to get in the habit of brushing every day. Doing this will help reduce the probability of gum disease in your pet.

Periodically, you will in all likelihood have to take your dog to the vet for a dental scaling. A scaling is similar to a cleaning you get at the dentist and consists of removing the tarter from your dogs teeth..

It's also wise to have some specific treats into your dog dental plan. A lot of the bones and chewies will help to wear down accumulated tarter. Other treats are developed to help with dog breath, especially the Greenies which are made for good canine dental health.

Your dogs continued good health relies upon on good dental care. Allowing plaque to accumulate in your dogs teeth can result in gum disease and could also result in illness in other areas of your pets body.

Great canine dental care can help keep your pet healthy. It only takes a couple of minutes per day to brush your dogs teeth and can lead to years of health.
