Most Popular Marine Ornamental Fish In The Hobby
At the top spot, we have the familiar amphiprion ocellaris plus amphiprion percula. Both of them are certainly the most recognizable ornamental saltwater fish on the market. They have even been depicted on the big screen as the star of the hit animated feature, Finding Nemo. However, to most saltwater hobbyists they are simply identified as the false percula along with the true percula.
They look almost completely similar with the difference being the number of dorsal spines present. Amphiprion Ocellaris is a cheap fish that is a staple in the industry. The pricier specimen between the two is Amphiprion percula as less are collected. They both do well in the aquarium and are great choices for experienced or new enthusiasts.
The second prize goes to the blue tang as well as the yellow tang. They are a popular choice on posters plus a variety of saltwater tank products on the market. The blue tang also had some air time on the animated movie, Finding Movie. The character Dory was a blue tang. Because blue tangs are imported in great numbers as well as are to some extent cheaper than their cousins, the yellow tang.
They are both great candidates for captive life if they have ample room to swim as well as are treated for any parasites that came in with them during shipment. Like Ich plus lateral line erosion are the two conditions all tangs are susceptible to. Give them a good mix of veggies in addition to meat to ensure a balanced diet.
Finally, four angelfish make up the last spot. They are the stunning Emperor angelfish, the all divine flame angelfish, the queen angelfish plus the french angelfish. They are always in demand by some marine hobbyist or another. They also make up the most costly fishes in the list. Excluding the flame angelfish, the rest can go for a handful hundred particularly if they are large and in top condition.
Flame angelfish usually cost less than their larger sized brethren. They are the most popular plus popular member of the genus centropyge. They should be fed a well rounded diet that includes seafood as well as seaweed along with algae. They can nip as well as consume a range of corals in addition to clams so avoid putting them in aquariums full of corals. -->
