Small Dog Terrors - Is Your Dog A Tiny Terror?

They may be small, but these dogs often make up for it in personality. Small dogs are cute and cuddly, but if you don't handle them a certain way, they can develop small dog syndrome.

Pups with small dog syndrome can bark a lot, very loudly, be extremely protective/possessive of you, and be much too aggressive towards others.

Small dogs can get away with doing a lot more trouble than larger dogs. This is due to their size. They don't bark as loud, so they often can bark for longer or even keep barking and be easily ignored, much unlike a big dog can.

Many owners don't see their dogs as pets, but as babies. Small dogs have a great reputation of being adorable and loving little creatures. Owners that treat their dogs like babies will often pick them up when they do something wrong and coddle them.

Upon entering your house, a visitor may find an angry and loud little pooch yapping away uncontrollably. It is a much easier thing to dismiss than if a large dog was doing the barking.

How a dog acts on your lap can tell if they have small dog syndrome. Nipping or barking at anyone that gets close to you may be seen as protective behavior, but in reality it is the dog's way of saying that they own this human.

Why do they act this way? Is it because of their size? A dog acts like this because it is allowed to act like that. If it was trained not to and not allowed to continue the bad behavior it would no longer be acting like a tiny terror.

With the right training and consistent disciplining, a small dog can be corrected from this nightmare behavior and become a happier, better behaved pet.
