Understanding How The Shock Collar Works

A bad mannered dog may not be so annoying to its owner but it can be quite irritating to other people. If your little pet happens to be one of those adorable but pesky little dogs that do not follow commands, you better do something about the situation. You do not really want to get into trouble with your neighbors because your dog misbehaved. To help train your dog, you should get a shock collar. No, a shock collar is not harmful to your pet. In fact, most shock collars that are sold in the market today only deliver minor jolts of static to your pet.

The Electronic Fence

If your pet happens to be one of those dogs that simply cannot stay in one place, you might want to get an electronic fence for your little buddy. How does the electronic dog fence work? The electronic fence prevents your dog from crossing certain boundaries. To activate the electronic fence, just put on the shock collar on your pet's neck, set the parameters where your dog is allowed to roam around and then let your dog go. Once your dog goes beyond the parameters you set, the shock collar will send an electric impulse to jolt your pet. The electric impulses will continue to flow until your dog goes back to his place. Once your dog gets the idea that it is not allowed to go certain places in the house, you can remove the shock collar from your dog's neck.

The Barking Collar

The bark collar is one of the most common and well known types of shock collars. This collar can detect through sensors the movement that your dog's throat makes when it barks, as opposed to other types of neck movement. If your dog starts to bark, then the collar will correct it with a small static electricity discharge. The intensity of the discharge varies from shock collar to shock collar, and some might make your dog yelp when it receives the shock. If your dog yelps, don't worry or feel alarmed. The shock collar won't electrocute your dog, injure it, or leave it traumatized because of a small static shock. In addition, the jolt only lasts as long as the barking lasts.

The Dog Training Collar

The dog training collar is another type of shock collar that you can use via a remote control. If your dog misbehaves, you simply press the button on the remote control to send a message to your dog that it is not behaving well.
