What Is Special About The British Bull Dog?

Bulldogs are dogs that were famous from the past. They have a reputation of being daredevils despite their small sizes. These dogs are also very sturdy that makes most people fear them more. Nonetheless, there are people who have ignored this and decided to domesticate them despite the bad history that these dogs have.

The dog has a thick body and short legs. Its weight is about 45 pounds. The muzzle is broad and flat. Its ears lie on the top of the head and its forehead is wide. These dogs are available in a variety of colors. Some of them are single colored while there are others that have a lot of colors that have been combined into one. These dogs are muscled and can perform tasks that require a lot of strength. This makes a lot of people fear these dogs.

Old English bulldogs are known to be fierce, but they are friendly to humans including children. These dogs give protection to their habitat by all means possible including turning violent if need be. However, they are well mannered and will identify the owners and the regulars of a place who mean no harm just like any other dogs and let them just pass. The dog can also be reared along other pets as it is quite friendly with other pets like cat.

This dog has history of having participated in the sport of pit fighting and bull-baiting. These were both dangerous games that the residents of the Old English liked. In the 19th Century, this game was made illegal. Owners of the Old English Bulldogs lacked the value of the dogs since they used to be popular for gaming activity. The phobia of these dogs has survived from then up to now in some people who are informed about their history, but there are others who never mind and hence keep them in their homes.

When constructing a habitat for old English bulldog, make a house that is well ventilated. This will avoid the dog from overheating when the temperatures are high. Their well developed skin does trap heat that can make them uncomfortable in sunny days.

These dogs are not much active and hence require little exercise. Train the dog sternly. Ensure that the exercise that you are giving to the dog is suitable for it. Be wary since the dog can cause damage through its behavior of chewing.
