Zhu Zhu Hamster Toys - Do They Have Build Quality Problems?

Any parent that has gone through the usual periodic toy buying journey will understand all too well that some toys are built to withstand real life toddler testing and abuse, whereas some, well, just break. At a starting price of just $7 for the Zhu Zhu Pets hamsters (aka Zoo Zoo Pets hamsters or Zu Zu Pets hamsters) toys and various low and higher priced hamster toy accessories, are these comparatively inexpensive furry creatures, packed full of intelligent interactive capabilities really up to the everyday wear and tear that kids in the real world will ultimately subject them to?

Zhu Zhu hamster toys have already sold in absolute staggering volumes and we are still months away from Christmas. So it is safe to assume that the hamsters themselves have all undergone the ultimate live kid testing on a mass scale. What is surprising, therefore, is that it is really hard to find any parent or customer complaints about their child's hamster failing or falling apart. The only comment that comes close is made by a few parents about the fact that since buying the Zhu Zhu hamster toy, their child has not stopped playing with it, which has meant a need to change the batteries as the hamster slows to a slow motion crawl. I think it is safe to say that this will be the case with all battery powered toys today and a set of rechargeable batteries would be a sound investment. So it would seem that the hamsters themselves, when it comes to quality of build and durability in the hands of children scores highly.

When it comes to the hamster accessories from Zhu Zhu Pets, things are a little different. More quality issues seem to be highlighted, whether in all reasonableness, they are justified or not, is up to the individual. With regard to the accessories overall, parents have repeatedly commented about the quality of the plastic used. The plastic is considered to be too thin and cheap. I would agree, Cepia could have used much stronger and thicker plastic with a subsequent price rise, but in my opinion, the plastic quality is perfectly adequate for your kid's toy hamster to run through.

Some parents make comments that the plastic clips to integrate the various accessories together are a bit flimsy and I would tend to agree, but they do the job and I have not experienced any consequential issues or read about any from other parents that have bought hamster accessories.

The hamster mobile set, which includes the car and garage, is probably the exception to the quality rule and numerous parents have voiced their concerns about the doors not fitting correctly or not staying on. With so many customers saying the same thing, it is worth bearing this in mind if you are thinking about buying this particular hamster accessory for your child. Nevertheless, if you do and you experience the same problems, you can always do what other parents have creatively done and use a bit of glue or tape to have functional hamster garage doors.

So it would seem that parents have very few complaints and problems when it comes to the Zhu Zhu hamster toys, whether it be the hamsters themselves or the myriad of add-ons that you can buy. With so many sales, any toy manufacturer would be satisfied at the lack of negative quality feedback.
